Outdoor is Sealed*

Outdoor is Sealed*

As sealed as the outside can be right now, facia panelling is up and the outside looks all buttoned up. *There are a few bits here and there which need some work (like the network cable peaking through in the photo below). But, in general, the outside is all sorted.

Tomorrow I have a meeting with the builder on site to go through the paint selections. My first time walking through the house, so I am excited.

The front brick on both the right side, left side and panelling above the garage will all be grouted and be a grey colour.

Brick Laying

Brick Laying

Additional to some more brick work, there is most of the eave and fascia boarding done now. Which means the exterior is almost entirely sealed off now. Enjoy some photos.

Just one more thing

Just one more thing

The brick work has continued and is almost done. The front isn’t 100% a representation of what it will look like as there will be render work to be done as well. The bathroom looks done though.

Well that was unexpected

Well that was unexpected

I received an email yesterday asking for me to select the grout colour for my bathrooms. I did no know that there were so many choices for the glue that holds the tiles. And why, you might ask, oh that is just because the tiler was in yesterday and today.

Main Bathroom

And that isn’t all, I saw that the brick work is almost done.

The side bricks

That is really good to see, and the weather hopefully has been dry enough for all that rain to have evaporated away.

So, is that all very exciting? Most definitely it is. But I had one more surprise, it appears they have been super busy this week, and they also have done some cabinetry!!!!

Front bricks that will be covered in render

There you go, lets see what they can do on the last day of this week, much more?

Increased Demand

Increased Demand

With all the grants and incentives, it helped to create an increase in spending, but it also created an increase in demand. So, now I am going to feel even more of that impact with the delays of contractors and inability to get parts quickly.

I don’t have much information, but the last date I was given for settlement was the 20th. Two days ago, I now have a new date for estimated settlement of the 21st December 2021. Meaning I won’t be in the new house for Christmas or New Year. And removalists around that time may be more difficult than the grants caused with migrations back in March when I moved out. We shall see how it all goes though.

Garage door in daylight and colour.
Doors all round

Doors all round

Did you notice the difference above? I know it is a bit darker as I didn’t get there till late, and the first time this week. But with all the rain around, I was glad to see this difference. The front door was up last week, along with all the internal doors.

Bricks still haven’t been delivered, and with all the rain and storms around that has me worried. But, with all the houses being built, of course there will be material and labour shortages. I just hope that the insulation is doing a good enough job to protect it.

Do you see it now?

I know you probably saw it above, but with the mud all around I couldn’t properly look to see what else had changed. But it didn’t look like much else had.

But I am super happy to finally have a garage door up. It’s a big [little] change. As in, it makes a big impact, but really was probably a day or two for it to go in. I’ll go back in the day time to properly see the colour. But it is a light grey, to contract the dark grey render that is yet to be done. Yes, I made a small update a big one.

Put on the door

Put on the door

The architraves are on, skirting boards are mostly there, wardrobes started to be built and the wall and ceilings have been sanded ready for paint.

All the internal doors (unsure about the sliding doors) have been installed. And here is the front door.

The bricks have not been delivered yet, but there are some other things delivered.

Lock up

Lock up

All the sheeting is up and it really does look like a house now. I can’t get inside as the doors are locked and I don’t have access to the site. So the updates will be a little less from now. Which kind of sucks as this is the more exciting part of the build. You can see from the picture above that these are the final doors, it is only to protect the inside.

Holy Sheet

Holy Sheet

Now we are starting to seem some real progress. Last week the cabling was finished and my additional network and speaker wiring went in. And this week the sheeting is going up. I went out Tuesday and saw this, so hopefully it is all done by the end of the week. As you can see, it is not only the walls, but the ceiling as well!

Some exposed frame still, but definitely progress can be seen.

I started discussions about an alternate NBN install location, as you may have seen all my network cabling. That wasn’t the original install location, and is much more than the houses original 2 network cable design. But there are reasons why this conversation didn’t happen earlier. But I am hopeful it can all go smoothly.

Garage shows the progression really well, insulation in ceiling, rear of kitchen wall and a fully sheeted wall.
Electrifying

Electrifying

They were advised that today was the day, electrical was going in and they needed to go in to do the data at the same time. Yes I’m getting additional data points installed.

And the reason it had to be done today is they were told that the sheeting is going up next week. Things are actually starting to ramp up now. I was getting some speaker wiring done too, but I think that will be completed tomorrow.

Electrical is in, well I presume it is all.
If you squint you can see cabling in the ceiling and walls.
